Yes , against all odds, the PRFU was able to hold its first ever sanctioned PRFU ladies tackle rugby training session . It was inspirational to see 30 ladies from Bullettes , UP, Angels, PNPA, MAAP and Faith Academy gather to learn tackle Rugby Union at the Rizal National Stadium.
PRFU development officers Juan Engelbrecht and Carlito “Ahlo” Abono took the Ladies training session and introduced the basic skills of rucking, mauling and 7’s rugby in an hour long session. The ladies will play their first contact game at the PRFU 7’s league finals at Nomads on Sat Sept 19th and from there will participate in the Subic 7’s where the Cebu Pink Dragons will also enter a ladies tackle rugby team.

The ladies are certainly keen to play tackle rugby and this is the beginning of choosing a Philippine National Ladies team to play in 2010 Asian Rugby Union events alongside the Philippine National Men’s 7’s team.

Look out guys, the ladies are coming…
