JEEPY PAYPON was born on 19 June 1990 and is now 18 years old. He is currently playing for the Alabang Ibons as their half back/wing for about a year now, but 3 years ago, Jeepy would never have thought that one day, his life as an orphan would soon take a dramatic turn when he met Carlito “Ahlo” Abono and Jay Hilario of the Alabang Eagles. It was Ahlo and Jay who coached him in the sport of touch football at the Tuloy Foundation when he was just 15 years old. And now, he is about to make his international debut as a member of the Philippine National Under 20’s squad who will be competing in the ARFU Division 2 Under 20’s Championship in Manila, Philippines. Indeed, this young lad has gone a long way since his days at the Tuloy Foundation.
The young Jeepy has always aspired to be an international Rugby player along the likes of Jake Letts and Matthew Saunders, two members of the Philippine National Men’s Rugby Team that has won and competed in many international rugby tournaments. Jeepy will always cherish the time that Jake and Matthew spent with him at the Tuloy Foundation, in coaching and teaching him how to “drop kick”, which he says is his most memorable experience. Jake and Matthew are truly Jeepy’s role models and inspiration in achieving his dream of becoming an international Rugby player. And now this dream is finally coming true, thanks to the hard work and efforts of Ahlo, Jay, Matthew and Jake, who are all responsible in helping Jeepy realize this dream. Jeepy is a product of PRFU development, and we hope that someday soon, there will be more others like him, who will rise to the challenge and be the best that they can be through the sport of Rugby Union.
With the Asian International Rugby Union Season upon us current and prospective Filipino-Heritage Rugby Union Internationals are hard at work with the Parramatta Two Blues Rugby Union Club preparing for the Asian 5 Nations (A5N) Division 3 tournament being held at the University of Makati in the Philippines between the 1st and 4th of July.
